picture 33 Aaron de Mey rocks

Aaron de Mey is Lancome’s make up artist and today I discovered his very cool website. It’s full of energy and artistic elements and I think it reflects Aaron’s personality well. There are several videos about him, in one of them he talks about how he appreciates the beauty of women all over the world and in the other videos Daria Werbowy and Elletra Rosselini tell us why they appreciate him…sounds boring? No it isnt thanx to the rock music in the background. Ok so….my point being…I like his website and I think you all should check it out: Aaron de Mey

Two questions: Why is topmodel Erin Wasson invited to Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood party? How can she wear a lace see through dress without a bra to this event? I mean… its a TEEN party! There were tons of 16 year old guys and I’m sure they liked Erins outfit but I think it’s inappropriate to wear something like this outside of the bedroom. Still, despite the fact that it’s inappropriate I have to admit that Erin pulls it off quite well. For some reason she doesnt look tacky or cheap and she definitely has the right body for a look like that. Love the shoes, love the bangles, altogether it’s a great outfit that only very few women can wear. But Erin…next time you attend a Teen Vogue party…wear a bra.

What’s better than one Magdalena?

magdalena Whats better than one Magdalena?

Two Magdalenas!!! So I read the new Vogue Germany today and I knew there would be an ed with Toni Garrn shot by Karl Lagerfeld in it so i was like…ok….this is gonna be my favorite! An it IS great indeed but there is another editorial that impressed me even more. It is called “Amour fou”, it’s shot by Alexi Lubomirski and the model is Magdalena Frackowiak. Yes…she is the only model although you see two women in every shot. At first glance I thought they are two different models…very similar looking. But then I read it is only Magdalena and I thought “Wow…great photoshop job”. It’s almost impossible to see that it’s two pictures made into one. I think that this was a very hard shooting because they basically had to shoot every scene twice. Once withe Magdalena the woman, then she had to change her clothes and make up but the location had to stay exactly the same before they shot the same scene with Magdalena the “man”. The posing must have been so hard, especially when “they” had to touch “each other”. How confusing! Well… big applause for Vogue Germany for such an impressive ed. Here it is…

Yes, I am!!! Look at that….I’m wearing the same cardigan as Daria Werbowy on the cover of the new H&M catalogue and I bought it before I saw that cover, so it was a nice surprise^^ I received the catalogue today and I love it…tons of great pics of Daria and Julia Stegner. I really have to applaud the H&M Team, because I think their campaigns are very high fashion like although H&M is everything but high fashion. I wonder how much they pay Daria. She is the face of H&M for 3 or 4 seasons now and I hope she will stay for more. Whereas Julia does not fit H&M at all in my opinion… she should stick to runway shows and high fashion campaigns. Oh well…it’s still nice to see her…here is the full campaign with the lovely Daria Werbowy:

VOGUE October

Vogue time!!! It’s mid September which means that the Vogue October issues are in stores around the world. Above you can see from left to right: Vogue Germany, USA, Italia and GB. Which country decided to put an actress on the cover? The USA…as always. The cover with Rachel Weisz looks better than last months catastrophe with Keira Knightley…still…I think Vogue US slowly becomes an entertainment magazine instead of a fashion magazine. Vogue Italia’s cover looks very old school like, very classy but I dont like the lighting. Vogue GB chose Kate Moss…how surprising…not. And I understand that they want her to look natural but c’mon….she looks as if she just got out of bed. Vogue Germany looks like the exact opposite. Lots of makeup, big hair and pink font. I like it but sometimes less is more and thats why I think another font color would have been a better choice. Fact is….all Vogue covers are very different each month…..interesting, isn’t it?

natasha poly1 I <3 Showcards

New York Fashion Week is over…London Fashion Week started…Milan and Paris are about to begin. Of course I am looking forward most to Paris Fashion Week… no matter what anyone says, no one can deny that Paris is the most fashionable city. The Fashion Week will start on Sep.27th and will include shows from all the big designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Gaultier and Givenchy. On of the biggest model agancies “Women management” created very cool showcards for their models at Paris Fashion Week, showing their love and appreciation for their girls like Natasha Poly, Vlada and also Toni Garrn which is very exciting since this will be her first Paris Fashion Week. Here are the cool “I <3 Showcards”…

Friendships…

littlegirls Friendships...

I wont post about fashion today. I will write about something much more important. Friendships. You are automatically part of your family…but you can choose your friends. Someone said that friends are the family you choose. And as much as I think that family is an important part of your life… I think true friends are even more valuable. By true friends I dont mean a person who is fun to hang out with or who you know for a long time. By true friend I mean someone who you trust unconditionally and who will always be there for you. Friends like that are hard to find…in fact, I think you are lucky if you know more than one person who you can call your true friend. Sometimes you think you found a true friend and then that person disappoints you. It hurts. It hurts me much more than being disappointed by a member of the family. How do you know if you can trust someone? How do you know that this could be a life long friendship? How can you be open for new friends if you were disappointed by old ones? The answer is… you cant. But there are certain people who havent made you cry. People who helped you and listened to you when you needed them. People who appreciate you and who accept you the way you are. Those are the people you can rely on. No matter how many people will upset you and no matter how many times you cry over someone that turned out to be bad for you…those downs will make you realize how rare and valuable the few true friends are. Remember….they are the family you choose…so choose carefully.

Backstage madness

Oscar de la Renta Spring 2009 Fashion Show, NY: BS, Runway2

I have to admit…today I dont feel like blogging about another NYFW show because none of them stunned me today. So I wanna blog about another aspect of every fashion week….a very important aspect. Backstage. I personally prefer backstage pictures over runway pictures because they are so much more real. You see the models posing and going nuts with their model friends, models getting their hair and makeup done, models texting on their cell phones and you can also see the very important crew like stylists, photographers and assistants without whom a fashion show would be impossible. There is another great thing about backstage pics. You get to see the designers outfits in a more normal light and from different angles and most of the time I think the clothes look better backstage than on the runway. So I collected some adorable pictures which capture the backstage madness of NY Fashion Week. Here they are…

Anna Sui’s wonderful collection

annasui Anna Suis wonderful collection

NYFW is almost over and it seems as if the best was saved for last. The Anna Sui Fashion Show blew me away with so many details that I loved and it was the first collection that definitely had a spring/summer vibe to it. So where should I begin with the things that I loved…well…first of all I thought it would be hard to top her last SS collection since I loved the craziness of it. This time she chose a very different style and was influenced by Spanish traditional clothing and Egyptian ornaments. Weird mix? Sounds like it but she made it work. The wonderful bright colors and short dresses go well with the big necklaces and the best of all are the shoes. Usually the models tend to wear very similar shoes in one show but at Anna Sui’s show everyone wore a different kind of shoe such as cowboy boots, Gladiators or Flip Flops in all colors of the rainbow. And guess what….my girl Toni Garrn was there too (yaaaay) walking down the yellow/red runway which reminded me of a beautiful sunset next to topmodels such as Natasha Poly, Isabeli Fontana or Jessica Stam. I think this is one of my longest posts ever but in my opinion Anna Sui’s show deserved this…make sure to check out all the pics and pay attention to the details…I think this is going to be my favorite NYFW show…what is yours?

Tommy Hilfiger Launch in Berlin

sl272542 Tommy Hilfiger Launch in Berlin

Here in Berlin we have a street called Kudamm. Kudamm is very pretty, lots of trees and small cafes…and all designer stores a girl looks for. One of those stores is Tommy Hilfiger and so I was excited to hear that I was invited to the launch of their new collection which took place yesterday. I didnt expect a big event to be honest but guess I was wrong. There were at least 500 people including socialites, wannabes, fashionistas and photographers. So in the end I was busy checking everyones outfits instead of checking the TH collection. But what I saw of it was really nice. Lots of casual dresses and blouses and of course TH sticks to its colors red, blue and white. My favorite piece was a pair of overknee leather boots, but when I saw that they were 400 Euros my excitement went away. And yeah…the models…poor models. There were 5 or 6 girls who had to stand on a revolving platform for 3 hours without moving. I hope they get good cash for that shitty job! Anyways…here are some pictures I took yesterday at the event…
