Every year after the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show there is one model that I didnt know before and that impressed me as part of the cast of the VSFS. This year it is Aussie model Sarah Stephens. I first saw her in those beach candids and she was the only one who didnt have a fake tan, I thought wow…who is this natural looking girl with the curly hair and whyyy did VS pick her? I thought she looked cute but definitely not sexy. Then I saw the first backstage pics of her and she really grew on me. She has a very pretty face and a sweet smile. I havent seen her walk yet, but if its as good as her poses then I’m happy. Sarah Stephens is 18 years old, 1,78 m tall, has brown bambi eyes and won a modeling contest in 2006. I saw an interview with her and she said she was a nerd in school and still feels like one and none of her friends will believe it when they see her on the VS runway. Imo, she is perfect for VSPINK and I will definitely keep an eye on her career. What do you think of her? Here are more pics of Sarah…

Dear editors of VOGUE Nippon,
I really appreciate that your covers always include gorgeous models instead of some it girls / wannabe celebrities / actresses we see on People magazine. I also like the way the models pose and the clothes they wear. But - dear editors - WHYYYYY do you always cover the beautiful faces of extremely pretty women like Natasha Poly or Daria Werbowy with a huge “G” ???? Do you think some readers might think its called “VOUE” if you leave out the “G” ??? Well….let me tell you…your readers are smarter than that. We all are aware of the fact that your wonderful magazine is called “VOGUE”, no need to ruin the cover picture. Look at VOGUE Germany or UK! They might help you…
Best regards,
Nadine

I wish my letter would make them stop this ridiculous “G” thing….sigh. Other than that….beautiful January cover!

Oh my goodness, 2008 is coming to an end. I fully realized it when I saw that VOGUE Paris Dec./Jan. is on sale already! The last/first issue of the year always has a VOGUE calendar included, which of course I absolutely love and cant wait to see each year. The calendar for 2008 was pretty good. It had Natasha Poly in it so i was happy. Next years calendar was shot by Terry Richardson and its theme is pin-up. Very provocative, very 50s, very French. I kinda like it, though I wish Vogue Paris would stop the whole nudity thing and concentrate on the clothes please! Its a Fashion mag, not Playboy, right? Oh well….I’ll still hang it on my wall and explain to everyone who sees it that its VOGUE!!! For the cover they chose Princess Stephanie de Monaco, I didnt expect her to ever be on a VOGUE cover and I like surprises, but to me the cover looks too sad. It has a very depressing vibe to it imo, they could have done better, but hey its a trillion times better than US VOGUE’s ridiculous celebrity covers. Here is a small scan of the calendar shots:

Thanx to Diorette@TFS for the scan

Chloe Sevigny is like a small mystery to me. She is not very famous here in Germany, I doubt any of my friends know her and even if I have known about her forever, I dont really know what she is famous for. I know she has done quite some movies and she has modeled, but isnt she also an “It girl”? I”m not sure… but I know that I love seeing new pictures of her, because she has a cool kinda nerdy style, loves wearing glasses and doesnt give a f*** about other peoples opinions. She looks very natural, doesnt wear a lot of make up, which is very good imo. You hardly ever see celebs without tons of make up - even in candids. So…today I read that last week it was her birthday and I thought oh cool…how old is she now? 25? 26? Then I found out….she turned 34!!!! What??? 34??? Chloe doesnt look a bit older than 25 in my opinion….like….seriously. I was very surprised. Maybe its because she goes for that natural look, maybe make up really does make you look older. Anyways…congrats to your endless youth, Chloe!

The Olsen Twins. Everybody knows them, I kinda grew up “with” them, watching Full House and their movies, suffering with MK when it was clear she was anorexic, seeing them on hundreds of magazine covers and now loving their distinctive style and checking their own fashion line “Elizabeth&James”. One funny thing I love doing is to guess who is who when I see new pictures of them. It’s quite hard, but I have become quite good at it. Can you distinguish Ash from MK? Today I bought Glamour magazine and they have a funny lil article about them on how you can tell who is who. Let me translate for you…
1. The look in their eyes: MK always looks a little stoned - she likes to party. The “good girl” Ashley looks more clearly.
2. The hair: MK loves boho, wild hair. Ash likes it more clean and wears her hair more out of her face.
3. The style: MK, the chilled one, loves a grungy style when private and hippy-chic when partying. Ash prefers dark colors and simple cuts.
4. Their bearing: Ashley has a more upright posture than MK, but both have the same way of putting their legs when posing.
Hehe, I dont know if that really helps, my personal view on this is: MK is even thinner than Ash and always looks more boho/grungy than Ashley. Anyways…here is my scan:

And people say models are always in a rush ;) Doesnt look like it if you check this funny pic of Coco Rocha and fellow model friend who I cant identify (anyone?). They must have been quite bored, but hey, its good to know that models are people like you and me who get excited about a tower of cigarettes,Sprite,a lighter and Alpenliebe.

Last night I went to my former school’s annual prom. It was a really fun night, all my friends were there, nice location and live music. A big aspect of a prom is of course the dress code. All guys wear suits and the girls get to dress up and wear very pretty dresses….well…most of them. Some girls just seem to have a very weird style or simply no style at all. I saw a wide variety of dresses yesterday, from boring cotton dresses that looked like Tees to impressive huge silky ball gowns. I personally am not a big fan of huge princess like dresses for proms, I like classy cocktail dresses so I wore a simple strapless LBD. But seeing all those different dresses made me curious and so I googled “prom dresses” and found these ridiculous over the top prom dresses that you can see here. Don’t get me wrong, this designer Sherri Hill has some more classy pieces as well but I want to dedicate this post to - what I call - Candy Dresses. How can you not be reminded of a Candy Store, lollipops or bubble gum when you see a girl in a dress like that? Those dresses should stay where they belong - Disneyland.

…every year in November I have some trouble with my internet connection. I am SURE its the provider’s fault and I am sick of calling their expensive “support” hotline only to hear that they dont seem to have ANY idea about the internet at all. At the moment my connection gets cut every few minutes and sometimes I cant go online for several hours. The reason why I’m telling you this is that I might not be able to blog everyday if this gets worse. I will give my best to argue with those support line nerds….wish me luck!

Today we had the most terrible weather in Berlin. About 6 degrees celsius, windy and rainy. It seriously rained all day and it was so dark that I had to turn the lights on in the middle of the day, just eeeww. While reading some fashion magazine I saw this new Louis Vuitton ad with my second favorite Aussie model Catherine McNeil. Although I am definitely against mixing pink and orange, this ad really works for me and it just screams summer!!! Looking at it made me dream of long hot summer days, relaxing at the beach or on a boat, wearing nothing but a bikini and sunglasses, drinking a fruity cocktail. I guess this is what good ads are supposed to do, they should make you dream of being in this scenario instead of the model. Congrats LV! It worked…now I am even more sick of this long winter here. Don’t get me wrong, I love christmas time and I love snow, but I hate rain and unfortunately it rains quite a lot here. Anyways, it’s supposed to be snowing on the weekend, I hope it’s true. Now if you will excuse me….I will look at that LV ad again and escape into my dream world with endless summers…

After the VSFS craziness, Doutzen flew back to NY to attend the 5th anniversary of the CFDA/VOGUE Fashion Fund Awards that took place yesterday. I immediately noticed something about her dress….remember THIS? Yes, she wore a very similar dress a few months ago and back then I posted about how great she looked and I’m gonna say the same again: Doutzen, Herve Leger dresses work for you! She has a pretty athletic body so those beautiful very tight and short Herve Leger dresses bring out the feminine side of her. I also love this nude color on her tanned skin and how she combined it with fancy jewellery. I’m sure this will not be the last Herve Leger dress we see on Doutzen, here are more pics of yesterday…
