badgley 34 Badgley Mischkas Oscar Gowns

Badgley Mischka’s new collection is full of beautiful, elegant, shiny gowns that I am sure we will see at this year’s Oscar red carpet. The long sparkly dresses remind me a bit of Ralph Lauren, which is ok, because classic looking pieces are always needed. I don’t even know which one is my favorite, but I definitely love the long black dress at the end. I dont like the styling of the models though…something seems weird….especially some of the model’s tans ( too much Bronzer anyone? ). I think less would have been more. But it’s a beautiful collection, can’t deny that. Pics by William Chung.

Balmain….I mean…Herve Leger

herveleger 33 Balmain....I mean...Herve Leger

I LOVE Herve Legers collection, but you cant deny that it looks a lot like Balmain. I dont care if designers copy each other, after all they are all trying to sell clothes. The big 80’s shoulders seems to be a huge trend in 2009 and I kinda like it. Herve’s dresses look stunning as usual and are perfect for a night out. I’m sure we’re gonna see those dresses on a lot of red carpets, especially the last one on Anna Selezneva that looks a bit like a Disco ball. The fact that he shows those elegant party dresses with cool black boots is pretty good in my opinion, it supports this whole rocker-chic attitude. So far, definitely one of my favorite NYFW collections. Pictures taken by the wonderful William Chung ;)

When I see these pictures I have to think of the ocean and crystal clear blue water reflecting the sunlight. Akiko Ogawa used so many beautiful shades of blue for the clothes as well as for the eyes of the models. I love this look. Flavia looks so gorgeous, Chanel looks fierce and the whole scenery in general looks amazing. Blue has always been one of my favorite colors and I am happy a designer uses this color in such a creative way. Pics from Peter again ( http://www.petertsaiphotography.com )

Diane Von Furstenberg’s crazy hats

I’m a big fan of DVF. I even liked the flower hairbands that she used for the last collection and that everybody hated on. For yesterday’s shown fall/winter collection Diane decided to create crazy looking hats. I love them, they look so warm and comfy and I am sure a lot of people will wear similar ones when the summer is over ( it’s still snowing here so that will take a looong time ). Other keypieces of the collection seemed to be leopard print pants, which is nothing innovative but very DVF. The model lineup was amazing for this show….Catherine McNeil, Lindsay Ellingson, Chanel Iman, Flavia de Oliveira etc. Here are some pics taken by Peter ( http://www.petertsaiphotography.com ).

Everyone needs a Ken!

36 Everyone needs a Ken!

Oh yeah I soooo agree, if a Ken looks like this^ then everyone needs a Ken. So uhm… when I heard that there would be a Barbie Fashion Show during this season’s NYFW I thought it would be a ridiculous small offsite show. I didn’t know the greatest designers of this decade would present beautiful outfits all in one show! When I saw the pictures this morning I fell in love with so many pieces, like the pink blazer by Alexander Wang, the white mini dress by Tommy Hilfiger and especially this awesome “everyone needs a Ken!” T-shirt! I reaaaaalllllyyy want it (and the Ken)! I was just surprised Doutzen Kroes wasnt part of this show. She looks so much like a Barbie doll, she would have fit in perfectly. Cangratulations Barbie for the 50th anniversary! Here are my favorite pieces of the whole collection…

Finally something great from US Vogue. This is a new editorial and I think its fabulous. I was surprised to see so many topmodels in it. Usually an editorial has one or two of them, but this features 8!!! Raquel Zimmerman, Catherine McNeil, Lily Donaldson, Karlie Kloss, Anna Maria Jagodzinska, Edita Vilkeviciute, Anna Selezneva, and Arlenis Sosa. WOW….all of them?!?! Mario Testino shot the ed, he always makes women look absolutely beautiful. The girls are wearing pretty cocktail dresses from Versace, YSL, BCBG and other great designers. I would totally go out in one of those dresses, I dont care which one! Here is the full editorial….thanx to Vampirehorde for scanning ;)

Shoesocks?!

lacostenrtwfw09r18 0101 Shoesocks?!

Socks? Tights? Stockings? Shoes? Shoesocks???? I dunno how I have to call this new trend that we could see at todays Lacoste show in NY, but it definitely looks a bit weird. Is that a “real” shoe? Can we wear it outside? It just seems as if those “shoes” get dirty pretty fast, but I have to admit….they look very comfy. I’m sure we’ll see lots of knockoffs in a few months.

Yes guys, what is this saturday? It’s Valentine’s Day (don’t forget;) )!!! Adriana Lima and Doutzen Kroes showed everyone what they would like to get from their BFs when they launched the new VS collection yesterday. I have to say, this is the first time in about 2 years that I think Adriana looks beautiful and almost classy. Doutzen does not impress me at all with her outfits, but Adriana is wearing this Polo dress that I really like. Very short, but not too sexy, because of the Polo cut. And this make up is the kind of make up she should always wear. I also like her silver after party dress….well done Adriana! But the best outfit in my opinion was worn by Behati Prinsloo. Pink mini dress, black tights and leather jacket and cool boots. Awesome! More picssss…

picture 7 Designer Knockoffs at Zara

Oh no, I know that I will spend waaaay too much money at Zara this spring. I just saw their new dresses and shoes and there are soooo many good designer knockoffs like the studded Balmain sandals ( that I am dying to have but 120 Euros is just too much ), the studded Gucci boots, the LV tribal sandals and the YSL Gladiators. And thats only shoes!!! Now look at the dresses! Balmain LBD with studded belt, a very Herve Leger inspired purple dress….i could go on and on. Fact is, Zara is really good at selling designer knockoffs that dont look cheap. I wanna have all of it!!! Especially everything Balmain inspired…here are the catalogue pics…
