Congrats Rosie ; ) So after a boring April cover, VOGUE Australia got a bit more creative for the May cover and chose Rosie Tupper. It’s a very romantic, soft springy cover and I like it, but I think it’s not edgy enough…it’s too much hair all over the place and too much pink. Anyways….Abbey Lee has an editorial inside which I am very excited to see! After a little break from modeling because of an injured leg she seems to be back. My guess for next month’s VOGUE Australia is that it will be reprint again so I am happy about this glance of originality for May ; )
After the Balmain Knockoffs craziness that Zara created during the past few weeks (sold out almost everywhere….resold on ebay for crazy prices….Zara had to take them out because of copyright reasons….) Zara is now selling boots that look very very similar to the Chloe boots that you can see above. Aparently they’re about 70 Euros, which is quite a good price….I just dont know if I am over the whole studded leather trend that is going on atm, but I’ll definitely check them out and try them on if Zara doesnt have copyright issues again already. So….here they are….you decide if you like them….(photo by Hanni at TFS)
Here it is! The first VOGUE May cover and what do we think? Hmm….I think it doesnt look very summery, more like a winter cover but I think thats because VOGUE Nippon always uses a white background. The model is Eniko Mihalik and she does look very pretty but I dont think the cover is anything special….its kinda blah…a little bit more color wouldnt hurt anyone. Cant wait to see Vogue Australia’s and US’s May issue!
I love love loooove the new commercial spot for the fragrance ELLE Shocking by Yves Saint Laurent. After Coco Rocha, Anna Selezneva is the new face of the fragrance and she looks so good in this YSL costume, also like the make up. Under the video you can find the link for the HQ download!
…I just came across this picture of the cover of US VOGUE 2004. If you compare it to nowadays celebrity covers, it’s hard to believe that this is US VOGUE and not Paris VOGUE. How amaaaazing is this cover??? It features the topmodels of 2004 Daria Werbowy, Natalia Vodianova, Gisele Bundchen, Isabeli Fontana, Karolina Kurkova, Liya Kebede, Hana Soukopova, Gemma Ward and Karen Elson. I wonder how much VOGUE had to pay for this cover, but I’m also sure they didnt give a damn. Aparently next months issue has some models on the cover instead of Beyonce&Co so I cant wait to see that….sigh….the good old 2004 covers….so pretty…heres a bigger version of the cover:
I am not a big Kate Moss fan to be honest…I just never got her appeal, but I saw these pics of the official Playstation 3 Singstar Queen Party (whatever that is), where she aparently did some Karaoke and wore this cute grey outfit. I think it’s hard to stand out in grey cos its such a wishy washy color, but this outfit looks really nice! I love the glittery cardigan and the see through tank top and I also like the fact that she doesnt wear a lot of make up most of the time. Oh and the bangles look really cool too, lovely outfit Kate! I would love to hear her sing Karaoke…
Yes, those Brazilian Models are still the most wanted kind of models besides the Russians and two of the most succesful ones, Alessandra Ambrosio and Caroline Trentini walked down the runway in some Barbie doll outfits for C&A yesterday. I dont know what kind of status C&A has in Brazil but here its quite a cheap brand with quite a bad reputation and they would NEVER get topmodels for campaigns. So I was surprised to see Ale and Caro there. Oh and….Ale is also the new face of Victoria’s Secret’s Naturally Beauty campaign…here is the pic along with some more C&A pics…
Just wow…. these pictures of a Neiman Marcus spread with Catherine McNeil wearing the most exclusive pretty dresses ever is really amazing. First of all I like Aussie model Catherine McNeil a lot, her face is really special and classic. And then I love fashion photography when the dress and the background reflect each other and that is the case in every single picture here….take a look :
Carine is pulling an Anna. What that means? It means that Carine Roitfeld decided to put a celebrity on the cover of VOGUE Paris, just like Anna Wintour does each month. I don’t like it….thats pretty much all I can say. The final cover is not oficially out yet but CNN gives us a sneek peek in this video where you can see Carine dressed in Balenciaga at a meeting with fellow Vogue editors, choosing the cover:
Miss at la Playa posted some very interesting backstage stories of photographer Mark Reay, my favorite being the one about Tanya Dziahileva and Lara Stone. Here they are…
“So once again Tanya Dziahileva - the happiest teenager in modelling - was a delight to see, and she was everywhere this season. Once I heard some strange sounds coming out of a group of photographers who were shooting her while she was getting her hair done. She was laughing and full of life- I didn’t fight the crowd and shot some other girls while I waited until the photographers moved on.
Tanya got up and smiled at me and I asked for a photo and she replied: “yes but you MUST”… and then she put her hand in front of my lens, and continued …“you must meow like a kitten while shooting the photo otherwise no picture!” I laughed and meowed and her hand came away from the lens. Then it dawned on me the sound I had heard earlier.
A few days later while I was standing in the crowd watching a show, Tanya walked down the runway, pounding her heals into the cat walk, staring into the pit of photographers at the end of the runway without blinking, - dominating the runway. She got to the end of the platform- stopped posed, hands on hips a very confident look on her face and just before she turned, I shouted“MEOW!” I swear she smiled and people around me thought I was some crazy fool.
I wish I saw her more than just 2 weeks out of the year, but that’s better than nothing.”
And the one about Lara…
“Then I approached another model whose identity I was equally mystified due to her almost Kabuki style make up and whacked hair. I asked her if I could take some shots- “sure” she said. I sat down opposite to her - knees almost touching and as I was adjusting the flash and getting ready to take the 2nd shot, I asked the same question: bad move. “That’s so fucking disrespectful. I know who you are MARK” UGH! At this point I could see a very unique feature: a large gap between her 2 front teeth (kinda like Magdalena’s jaw line) and immediately knew it was Lara Stone- who I had some ups and downs with a year ago - I would have probably avoided her if I had known it was her as I was kinda intimidated. With the pleasant feeling evaporating of how cool she was at agreeing in the first place to accept my request and how we could have been perhaps friendly again; I tried vainly to explain myself, and then another unknown super model entered to ask her to get a smoke together. 5 mins later she walked by and knowing how cool a smiling shot of her would be, I asked gingerly - she snapped “no!””
