I’m really happy that Riley Keough is working on some new projects at the moment. She is working on a movie called “The Runaways” with Dakota Fanning and she is the face of the new Mango Campaign, above you can see the first picture. Although she is not a topmodel and not even tall enough to become one, she simply looks gorgeous on pictures and I love every photoshoot she does. I can’t wait to see her Mango campaign on huge posters around Berlin and in the Mango stores, because I honestly have enough of Penelope and Monica Cruz.

It’s Gucci, it’s Natasha Poly, it’s fierce! I love seeing the new fall/winter campaigns and when I saw the Gucci one I was impressed. I like the plain white background in contrast to the high heel. And what a high heel that is! It’s super high, super shiny and super thin. But nothing can outshine Natasha. She was the star of the last Gucci Fashion Show and I really like her styling and the dress she is wearing in the campaign, hope to see more pictures of the campaign soon!

Tonight Britney Spears will perform here in Berlin and I will be there to see it!!!! (Thanx Rita for the ticket!) This event made me reminisce about her career and all her looks. Yes, she had her ups and downs but I have to say, despite all that, I think she is a really beautiful girl and inspired a whole generation. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite looks of Britney Spears…

OMG, look at those pants….haha….cant believe anyone would wear theses today. Anyways, this was in 2000 when she had shorter hair, I actually liked her short hair a lot, it made her look very cute.

Then there was this one Pepsi TV commercial where she had this hippie style which suits her so well imo…

But my absolute favorite Britney Spears style and moment of her entire career was her performance at the MTV Music Awards in 2001. It was perfect, I loved her red carpet outfit (Prada 08 anyone?), her hair and make up and her Slave 4 u performance was one of her best ever.

My Style Inspiration

Finding inspiration nowadays seems easy, at least fashion wise. For me there are several ways to get new ideas for new outfits. One of them is just going outside, looking at people on the street or just checking out the latest collections in every store on Ku’damm which is one of my favorite shopping streets in Berlin. Then of course I read lots of fashion magazines. I love to see editorials and how the models are styled, how they mixed my favorite pieces of this season’s fashion shows and which colors the editors used.

Of course - there is no way of denying it - if you want to be up to date with all the latest trends you have to use the internet. But besides looking at the latest collections of designers, I LOVE to look at backstage/off duty pictures of models. Let’s face it, models always get to wear the latest stuff first so they know what will be the must have for the next season. That’s what makes them look effortlessly cool.

For example Lily Donaldson. That girl has the typical “model style”. Lots of black, lots of plain white Tees and lots of amazing shoes and bags. Her style is not too fancy, it’s rather simple, but still very cool, very chic and very trendy. It’s all a matter of mixing old and new, elegant and casual.

Then there is this beautiful picture of Irina Lazareanu. She is a rocker-chic first, model second - at least that’s what it seems like to me. I love the way she is mixing colors and shapes here. Grey and beige, two colors that I didn’t even think of combining, but it looks really good! The boots complement the dress and the wonderful grey coat goes perfectly with the grey tights. The rolled up sleeves make the outfit look more casual.

Now my - without a doubt - fashion and style inspiration no1, Natasha Poly. Natasha is fierce, no matter what she does which also comes across in her outfits. When I look at candid pictures of her, I always have the impression that she actually thought about her outfit and chose every single piece for a reason. I love how she combines accessories and how she isn’t afraid to use pieces that some of us would find too risky or simply “too much”. For Natasha it works, and yes, she is a topmodel - always.

What a jetset dog Frankie is…. flying around the world with topmodel Miranda Kerr, being carried around in a Louis Vuitton bag and probably only drinking Evian water. I actually love the fact that there are lots of situations where Miranda takes Frankie with her, it shows that she cares, not like some other people who lose their dogs named Tinker Bell if you know what I mean. Miranda Kerr was seen with Frankie at the LA airport last night wearing a beautiful peach dress, Ray Ban sunnies and simple black sandals. What a wonderful outfit for a flight! It looks very comfortable, yet pretty….exactly what I want!

Fashion Week Music

So there’s this Emiliana Torrini song “Jungle Drum” that is so catchy, I cant even get it out of my head…its also a fav of designers at Fashion Weeks, I think Strenesse Blue used it…

Other than that, believe it or not, MGMT’s “Kids” is still the song that I heard most during Fashion Week. It must have been 6 fashion shows or more where they used this song….I dont mind because I love it, but shouldnt designers come up with something newer?

Busy week for me….have to work a lot….so please be patient with new blog posts, but they will come!

Waiting for the September issues…

picture 1 Waiting for the September issues...

…and no, I don’t mean the movie (although I’m waiting for that too), I mean the actual September issues of  Vogue US, Paris, Australia and Germany…and maybe UK. Because this August cover of Vogue US is the same old same old stuff as always. Yes, it has a model (Christy Turlington) on the cover which is good, but again “The Age issue”….to me it feels like Vogue US has only two kinds of issues, The age issue and the body issue. And eventhough it might be a nice idea, it becomes very boring year after year. So I really hope that the September issues will be better. The editor of Vogue Australia unleashed in an interview that Aussie models Catherine McNeil and Abbey Lee have shot a 30 page editorial for the September issue, so I’m very excited to see that. I guess I just have to wait…

hc Haute Couture 09/10 Favorites

Due to all the Berlin Fashion Week craziness I kinda missed the beautiful Haute Couture Shows in Paris. Shame on me! I checked all the pics today and found some really amazing pieces….Dior was a bit same old same old but nevertheless breathtakingly beautiful, Chanel was surprisingly good and Jean Paul Gaultier seemed a bit like ready to wear except for some pieces. Anyways…always love haute couture…I would give anything to wear Natasha’s Dior dress, just for a few minutes!!!!

Kaviar Gauche - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring Summer

Sigh….it was beautiful….so beautiful. The Kaviar Gauche Show was really one of my favorite shows of the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week. The dresses were amazing, the fabric was so light and elegant and the way the dresses moved while walking was perfect. The models were really good too and the music choice rocked, agressive Rammstein. If I married soon, I would choose the Kaviar Gauche dress above. More pics taken by William Chung…

Custo Barcelona - Hippie meets Surfer and Matthew Williamson

Custo Barcelona was the grand finale of the second day at the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week. Although there was the HUGO BOSS show around the same time, there were still tons of people at Custo wanting a seat so everyone had to wait about 15 minutes until we finally got our seats where we found a sample of the new Custo Barcelona fragrance. Then the show started and you could immediately see where this was going: Hippie meets Surfer with a touch of Matthew Williamson. There were some pieces I really loved, like the all blue mini dress that looked like a wonderful blue ocean or the short studded jackets. I also liked the sleek long hair of the models and the colorful shoes. They played a cool remix of “Suspicious Minds” and the models seemed pretty professional although one of them gave us attitude backstage because we wanted one picture (isn’t that what theyre supposed to do? Pose for pics?). I also got a short interview with the designer of Custo Barcelona. He told me that Custo Barcelona was founded over 20 years ago and that his first designs were influenced by surfing. You can still see that influence nowadays in my opinion. He has over 60 stores worldwide and will open another 7 in the near future, most of them in the states.  Here are some pics taken by William Chung of course ; )
