There she is! After missing Natasha Poly in New York, she finally appeared in Milan. I loved the models’ styling at the Fendi show, those pink lips with the simple shiny hair are amazing! And I also liked the collection, especially the colorful bags.

Now on to a little bit of gossip… Miranda Kerr might be walking Balenciaga on thursday. I hope the rumors are true, she is glowing because of her pregnancy and suits Balenciaga so well!

The Dolce&Gabbana show was really good too, I loved all the white lace and the fact that Alessandra Ambrosio and Izabel Izy Goulart were there.

Versace disappointed. I’m not gonna say more.

One of my newest favorite models is Constance Jablonski. She is naturally beautiful and has the most amazing body (not toooo skinny) and eyes. I think she’s done almost 50 shows already this season, must be exhausting!

And last but not least on to my personal gossip. I will move to a new city tomorrow so the next week will be very busy. Please excuse less posts than usually.

Honestly, I enjoyed the collections from London Fashion Week more than New Yorks. More colors, more craziness, more fun. Especially the glittery, colorful styling at Giles Deacon impressed me. Pink and gold glitter around the eyes, orange red on the lips and the best part - funny faces on the fingernails! Love the creativity! Kasia looks great on those backstage pics.

Karolina Kurkova started as a high fashion model. I remember reading a German newspaper article about the most succesful models a few years ago. At that time I had just started to become interested in fashion and basically had no idea who Karolina was, but I was impressed that she was the no1 model in the industry. It must have been around 2003 or 2004. Then…. KK did less HF work, more VS work. And she was beautiful as a Victoria’s Secret angel! No one could beat her look in the VSFS 2006. Then, 2009 her VS contract ended, KK got pregnant and for a while it seemed like she retired from modeling. Now, a year later, KK is back to the runways, struttin her stuff in shows of Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler and Rodarte. Her body is perfect, she seems even slimmer than before her pregnancy and her smile still lights up every room. What an impressive woman…

New York Fashion Week Model Myth

jessstam New York Fashion Week Model Myth

Oh New York… always the place to be, but especially during fashion week. A lot of shows have taken place already and something that I find even more interesting than the collections so far are the models. While Toni Garrn skipped last season for school, she has now graduated and is back on the catwalks. Alessandra Ambrosio made a surprising appearance at Marc Jacobs and seems to be the only VS Angel doing NYFW shows, because Miranda Kerr and Doutzen Kroes who would’ve been booked for sure, cant walk because they are pregnant (great timing…). The most shocking thing though is the absence of Miss Natasha Poly. Usually the queen of fashion shows, she is skipping NY this season. No one really knows why, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll see her unique walk in Milan and Paris!

sdc10416 Fashions Night Out in Berlin...Freebies and Claudia Schiffer

Free gifts from designers? Free drinks and snacks? Sipping champagne while shopping? Sounds too good to be true! But Vogue Fashion’s Night Out in Berlin made it happen. Last night I went from Schumacher to Louis Vuitton to Moschino to H&M, enjoying some drinks and snacks while looking at all the fashionable people that had the same in mind as me, shopping! The Schumacher store opening was amazing, it is one of the nicest stores I’ve ever seen. I would move in asap if I could. They gave away MAC lipgloss and a beautiful candle. Moschino sold this lovely notebook that you can see above, the perfect item for a fashionista student ; ) On top of all this goodness, Claudia Schiffer walked by me surrounded by a camera crew, looking lovely as always. Luckily the stalker-fan in me was fast enough to take a picture of her.

Now that’s what I call a successful fashion’s night out! Can’t wait for next years… enjoy some of my pictures:

muu6w7 Victorias Secret Fashion Show 2010 Scoop

It’s here! The first press picture for the 2010 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. And of course VS’s new favorite girl Candice Swanepoel is on it. So, what do we know so far? The show will be aired on November 30, so it will probably be taped at the start of November, it will take place in New York and the castings should be during the next two weeks and Erin, Chanel, Adriana, Rosie and Candice are confirmed. Did you notice something? That’s right, Alessandra Ambrosio and Heidi Klum are not part of the angel list so far. Now of course that doesnt necessarily mean that they wont be there, but knowing how much VS pushed them last year, it is just very weird that they completely ignore them this year. Hhhmmm… I have a feeling there will be lots of surprising changes this year.

VOGUE Germany’s new layout…

may6r 9ccaea75 VOGUE Germanys new layout...

The October cover of Vogue Germany was published today and it’s soooo…. weird!!! They seem to have a new layout with a very crazy and big font. Three different colors are used too, which is just too much for one cover. And the sentence at the bottom “Das ist Vogue!” (This is Vogue) seems rather ridiculous and unnecessary. Anja Rubik is the model on the cover and she looks quite lovely, if only she wouldnt drown in all those words! What a waste of a beautiful shot… just imagine the cover without the words, just the black Vogue font and maybe one or two words at the bottom. Thats it. Vogue needs to fire their layout department staff.

The Trend Issue

I guess one can say that I read a lot of fashion magazines. Probably more than anyone I know. This means that I have read many editorials and texts of fashion editors, directors and stylist praising the latest trends. At the moment of course, fashion mags are full with the fall/winter collections and I read stuff like “Fall Must-Haves” and “What to wear now” in every single one of them. Editors write that the time of 52 different kinds of grey is over and that it’s time for beautiful colors like orange and green. This made me think. If the majority of designers had shown only shades of black and grey in their fall collections, we would now read things like “The new trend color grey” or “Grey: versatile and classic”.

Every season, editors and fashionistas around the world praise the trends that designers set. And it seems like every trend can be justified. Take for example florals. Now, they might be described as “The comback of femininity”. In a few months the same editors or blogger or whoever interested in fashion might describe florals as “tacky and old fashioned”.

Even I find myself hating things that I loved some time ago. Are we too influenced by the media? Do designers make the trends? Does that make us hypocrites? All I know is that fashion should not be taken too serious (wait…what…did I just say that?!) and that everyone should wear what they feel comfortable in. I just wish that fashion magazines could come up with new headlines and stop the same old recycled terms like “new key-pieces”. Fashion magazines should be more opinionated. Just because something is new or someone important created it, does not make it a “must-have”.

Anyways, I do love my fashion mags and this isnt really a major issue, it’s just something that I found a little bit irritating. But maybe that’s just me…
