So there’s this Emiliana Torrini song “Jungle Drum” that is so catchy, I cant even get it out of my head…its also a fav of designers at Fashion Weeks, I think Strenesse Blue used it…

Other than that, believe it or not, MGMT’s “Kids” is still the song that I heard most during Fashion Week. It must have been 6 fashion shows or more where they used this song….I dont mind because I love it, but shouldnt designers come up with something newer?

Busy week for me….have to work a lot….so please be patient with new blog posts, but they will come!

Kaviar Gauche - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring Summer

Sigh….it was beautiful….so beautiful. The Kaviar Gauche Show was really one of my favorite shows of the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week. The dresses were amazing, the fabric was so light and elegant and the way the dresses moved while walking was perfect. The models were really good too and the music choice rocked, agressive Rammstein. If I married soon, I would choose the Kaviar Gauche dress above. More pics taken by William Chung…

Custo Barcelona - Hippie meets Surfer and Matthew Williamson

Custo Barcelona was the grand finale of the second day at the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week. Although there was the HUGO BOSS show around the same time, there were still tons of people at Custo wanting a seat so everyone had to wait about 15 minutes until we finally got our seats where we found a sample of the new Custo Barcelona fragrance. Then the show started and you could immediately see where this was going: Hippie meets Surfer with a touch of Matthew Williamson. There were some pieces I really loved, like the all blue mini dress that looked like a wonderful blue ocean or the short studded jackets. I also liked the sleek long hair of the models and the colorful shoes. They played a cool remix of “Suspicious Minds” and the models seemed pretty professional although one of them gave us attitude backstage because we wanted one picture (isn’t that what theyre supposed to do? Pose for pics?). I also got a short interview with the designer of Custo Barcelona. He told me that Custo Barcelona was founded over 20 years ago and that his first designs were influenced by surfing. You can still see that influence nowadays in my opinion. He has over 60 stores worldwide and will open another 7 in the near future, most of them in the states.  Here are some pics taken by William Chung of course ; )

mandy Berlin Fashion Week Day 2: Anja Gockel

I’m sitting in the comfy but hot press lounge while I write this, waiting for the Custo Barcelona Fashion Show which I will blog about later. Today was very busy, I went to 5 Shows and backstage to three. Anja Gockel’s Show was quite fun, good music and fans at the end of the runway, making the models and dresses look pretty good. It was also the show of GNTM models. There was the winner of the first season of GNTM, Lena Gercke and the second and winner of this season, Mandy and Sara. The outfits were quite nice, I saw some fun colorful summery dresses that I really liked, but what I liked even more was the styling. The girls had big, messy hair and lots of glitter on their eyelids which imo always looks good on the runway. Here are some pics…

Berlin Fashion Week Day 1: Schumacher

mg 7852 Berlin Fashion Week Day 1: Schumacher

I survived the first day of the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week! Actually it was a really good day, I went to 5 fashion shows, missed 2 because there just wasnt enough time. Did two interviews, one with Marcel Ostertag and one with Pablo Ramirez, might post them later if you are interested. My favorite show of the day? Definitely the very first one, Schumacher.
Schumacher created a beautiful collection of very feminin, yet elegant clothes. A lot of shiny fabrics were used, lots of brown shades and bows could be seen. Toni Garrn opened the show and looked very pretty, as always. My favorite piece was probably a sequin vest.
After the fashion show, all the guests were invited to a reception to celebrate Schumachers 20th anniversary where we got a free T-Shirt and beautifully decorated food, thanx for that! I would definitely wear Schumacher’s clothes : )

p1020182 I interviewed Julia Stegner!

Yes, I still cant believe it but I got to do a short interview with topmodel Julia Stegner at the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week press conference this morning. Julia looked lovely, wearing a black shirt, beige blazer and light pink pants. She also wore a lot of silver jewellery, lots of beautiful rings, bracelets and necklaces.

When I introduced myself to her she was smiling and said “Hi! I’m Julia!”, really sweet and down to earth. I asked her if she is still looking for an apartment in Berlin, she said yes, but if she finds one that she likes she will buy it as an investment for the future and might move to Berlin in a few years. I asked her if she likes to go shopping in Berlin and if she has some favorite shops, she answered that everytime she’s been to Berlin she never had enough time to go shopping but she would love to do it soon. Julia also told me that she will only be here until thursday thats why she wont walk in any shows but will be in the audience of the Black Coffee and Ramirez fashion show.

That means I’m gonna see her again since I’m also gonna be in the audience of that show : ) I noticed her hair is shorter than usually and she didnt wear much make up and still looked perfect! Gotta love Julia Stegner!

dsc 0288 ter Fashion Week Outfit Inspiration

So tomorrow the craziness will begin. The Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week will start with a press conference tomorrow morning. Of course this week I wanna be super fashionable and thats why I love looking online for outfit inspiration. Found those two pictures on style and the city and I love those outfits. One of my all time favorites are the very Chanel looking bags with chain straps, I think I own 5 bags in that style and I never get tired of them cos they really suit every kind of outfit. Bought another one at topshop this week, denim style. I think I’m gonna wear a lot of dresses this Fashion Week since it will be really warm. Dresses, wedge heels, belts and hairbands.

Make sure you check my blog tomorrow for my Julia Stegner press conference pics and mayyyybe even a small interview. Anything you want me to ask Julia?

So, as you all know, in a little less than four weeks the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week will start again and I’m very happy to be part of it for the third time now. One thing that I cant get outta my head - obviously - is what am I gonna wear during those four days of fashion craziness??? It has to be pretty, edgy, kinda comfortable cos I’m walking around all day and of course super fashionable! So when I saw this picture at superfantasticpicturetime I thought…perfect! Love the combination of cool pants and gladiators with a romantic hippie like blouse. I actually got a blouse like that, I got the sunnies, I got the pants, now I only need the shoes and the necklace. Any suggestions for Fashion Week outfits? Comment here or email me!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin has continued to grow since premiering in July 2007 and will again this summer present an ever increasing number of designer runway shows. Conversations with interested brands and designers are still ongoing, but confirmed thus far are Anja Gockel, Black Coffee, BOSS Orange, CUSTO Barcelona, EASTPAK, ESCADA, GANT, GREENshowroom, Guido Maria Kretschmer, Kilian Kerner, Kunsthochschule Weißensee, LAC ET MEL, Lala Berlin, Lena Hoschek, Michalsky, Michael Sontag, Mongrels in Common, Pablo Ramirez, Patrick Mohr, Penkov, René Lezard, Sabrina Dehoff, Scherer González, SCHUMACHER, Smeilinener, Starstyling, Strenesse Blue, University of Fine Arts Berlin. “Our designers know that a catwalk show within Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is a very good investment, even in challenging times,” says Maia Guarnaccia, Vice President IMG Fashion Europe. “The marketing reach of these shows is tremendous and the costs in Berlin are reasonable compared to Paris or Milan. Here also, they find an amazing audience filled with editors from key national and international publications, as well as retailers from all parts of the world.” “Thanks to the strong partnership between IMG, the city of Berlin and ourselves, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin has returned into the top class of fashion metropolises,” says Anders Sundt Jensen, Vice President Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars. “The continuously growing number of designers, visitors as well as other fashion events all around Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is proof of this success.” The Award-Show “Designer for Tomorrow by Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf” will again put amazing young talent on the runway of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin and give them the chance to be discovered as the next up-and-coming designer. Out of more than 150 applicants, 8 finalists will get to showcase a capsule collection in front of an expert jury and a large industry audience. The winner will be awarded with a prize and extensive tutorial by Peek & Cloppenburg KG Düsseldorf. Last season’s participants have received huge media attention and have started promising careers with companies such as adidas and Comme des Carçons. For the third time, the Showroom-Mile, an initiative of the Senate for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues, Berlin, will present a large number of designers, such as van Reimersdahl, But- terflysoulfire or Zeha. Local businesses and institutions support this great effort and make space for the collections. Berliners, tourists and the industry guests of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin are invited to experience these local designers within unique settings.  “Showroom-Mile is a perfect addition to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin,“ says Harald Wolf, Mayor and Senator for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues, Berlin. “We open this fashion event for the general public and found several companies and partners who give space and other benefits to the designers. Again this season Showroom-Mile will represent 50 designers and artists from Berlin and around the world.”  Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is made possible by the following sponsors: Mercedes-Benz, DHL, Maybelline Jade, Peek & Cloppenburg KG Düsseldorf and Veltins and will again be endorsed by the Senate for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues, Berlin. For further information and our online registration please visit www.mercedes- benzfashionweekberlin.com.
