After all my snapshots, I think I owe you some professional pictures of some of the shows. I just went through hundreds of pictures to select a few outfits that I liked best during the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week, and to be completely honest, I did not find a lot that I liked. Still, there are a few designers that really impressed me, most of all it was Perret Schaad that won me over. The detail shot of the outfit that you see above must have been my favorite of all of the shows. It is perfect. The choice of pastel colors and the mix of thick wool with fragile silk just works so well, not to mention the amazing asymmetrical cut of the coat, I want it!

Besides Perret Schaad, the outfits below are from the following designers:

Issever Bahri, Kaviar Gauche, Malaikaraiss, Minx, Perret Schaad, and Rena Lange

I survived Fashion Week. I wish I had a T-Shirt saying exactly that right now (Damn! That would have sold like crazy outside the tent! Should have thought about that earlier!). It is a stressful time and reading all the status updates from other bloggers on facebook, they agree with me. It seems like most of them are happy that it’s over. I’m not. Do I want a break? Yes. Do I need more than a couple of days? No.

Anyways, the 10th Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week has come to an end, here’s my recap of the last day. It started with the Fashion Show by MINX which was a nice surprise. Models like Franziska Knuppe and Kathrin Thormann walked down the catwalk in beautiful silk and leather gowns while Annette Weber (wearing the It-shoes of the moment, Isabel Marant sneakers) watched the show with her son next to her. I honestly don’t understand why some people bring their children to fashion shows. A fashion show is probably one of the most boring and inappropriate situations ever for children and that seat could have been taken by someone who really wanted to watch the show.

After that I had a two hour break so I had some coffee, read some of the Fashion Week Dailys and then tried a free massage in the tent, SO painful! Didn’t enjoy it, but my back felt much more relaxed afterwards. Then I went to Stephan Pelger which was good, too, followed by Malaikaraiss and Noir.

I will tell you more about the fashion soon, but right now it is 2 am and my eyes can hardly stay open as I am typing this, so please be patient and check back soon. The Fashion Week circus ends for me here and even though I am looking forward to a break, I cant wait for the next one.

Berlin Fashion Week Day Three or… the Day I Met KK

Mission accomplished. I can go back to Giessen in peace now. On day three of the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week, I finally met the wonderful Karolina Kurkova. I’ve been a big fan of Mrs Air-Heel (all the Victoria’s Secret lovers among you will know what I mean) for years so I’m really happy that I could finally meet her. As expected, she is super pretty, super tall, and super nice.

What else happenend today? Well, for me, the day started at the Fashion Blogger Cafe where I met some amazing fellow bloggers like Sam from gelbgold or Nathalie from fashion is for idiots [like us] . The girls were so nice and the event itself was very well organized. We could start the day with yummy cupcakes and coffee and listen to interesting talks about Blogs and their rights.

After that, I went back to the tent for the Kilian Kerner show. The collection was nothing special, but Kilian Kerner’s shows are always nice, because he usually has live music. Today’s music was such a nice change to all the hardcore-bass-music of the past days, Mads Langer played guitar and impressed with his beautiful voice.

Then I had my fan-moment with KK before I went to Hackesches Quartier to check out some pop-up stores. On my way, I saw Eva Padberg filming a scene for her new show “Das perfekte Model” in front of Brandenburg Gate, some guys told me not to take pics so I only got this blurry one, but she was with two contestants, both quite pretty. They were wearing some beautiful yellow gowns and were freezing in the cold rainy weather. Eva kept on hugging them so they would be warm and seemed really nice and caring, not so sure if Heidi would have done the same if you know what I mean…

That was it for today, not too much which is just the right thing after only 6 hours of sleep. Tomorrow will be more hectic again, until then, enjoy the photos!

It is 3 am as I am writing this so please excuse if this is going to be fairly short. Day 2 of Berlin Fashion Week is over and oh my god, it was stressful as hell. It started with the Rena Lange show. The collection was nice but what was way more important for me was the front row across of my seat. First of all, there was Eva Padberg who looked lovely in her blue dress. And then there were, what I would call, the ‘fashion witches’ all next to each other. The witches are the editors-in-chief of the major fashion magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan, InStyle etc…

Besides all the clothes that I saw today on the four fashion shows that I went to, it was definitely Blogger day. My good friend Sue from Sue Loves NYC was in Berlin, I met Sarah from Josie Loves, and I took a picture of the wonderful Fiona Jane from Spotding.

After the shows, I went to the Lena Hoschek After Show Party which was great fun! Half naked women served food and drinks all night, there was a live band and a really nice 50s atmosphere. I met Miriam and Amelie from Germany’s Next Topmodel who you can see on the picture below as well. But after standing in heels all day, I am really dead now and just want to sleep so, enjoy my photos…. Zzzzzz…..Good night.

Berlin Fashion Week Day One

p1080071 600x449 Berlin Fashion Week Day One

I’m so proud of my baby called Berlin Fashion Week. I’ve been to the first one in 2007 and I’ve seen it grow during the past five years - literally. And I’m not talking about the number of events and designers, which, of course, maximized, too. I’m talking about the Berlin Fashion Week tent which, to my surprise, got a lot bigger compared to 2010. It has two floors now!!! In fact, there are lots of changes concerning the tent. There is now a studio where designers can present their collections in different ways and where journalists and guests can see the clothes up close, which is great. There are more lounge seats, drinks, food, and there’s even a massage corner where you can get free massages! GREAT idea if you ask me! So, first impression this morning: I like the tent.

The first presentation I went to was 1913. Lots of cashmere, knit, sweaters, and shorts. Think comfy but expensive sunday afternoon on the couch. I really liked the make up of the models, orange eyeshadow and lipstick and undone hair.

After that, I went to the Lena Hoschek show, which btw started 30 min late. Thats a little too late for my taste. To make up for it, the show went for 25 minutes and everyone got a big goodie bag! That’s a whole lot of outfits so, well done, Frau Hoschek! The collection was really beautiful as well, the outfits seemed inspired by Paris in the 1940s.

After grabbing some lunch with a friend of mine, I went to the Mariusz Przybylski presentation which was held in one of the most beautiful hotels in the world, the Adlon (yes, that’s the one where Michael Jackson nearly dropped lil Blanket off the balcon). Finding the room was an experience itself, because of the extravagant interior design of the hotel. Mariusz Przybylski showed a collection of suits for men and women. My absolute favorite was a white one, adorned with Swarovski stones. Oh how I love sparkly things.

Speaking of sparkly, Harald Glööckler wore sparkly stones all over his body. On his face, his chest, his pants, everywhere. He was like a disco ball. But see for yourself in the pictures below.

What’s in my Fashion Week Bag?

photo1 Whats in my Fashion Week Bag?

Preparing for Berlin Fashion Week isn’t as easy as one might think. The schedule craziness starts about two weeks before Fashion Week when the PR agencies are sending out invitations and reminders. During this time, I get about four times as many e-mails as usual and let me tell you, it is not easy to stay organized and on top of everything. There are so many events all squeezed into four days, it’s mayhem. So far, my schedule includes 12 fashion shows, 2 showrooms, 1 blogger event, and some after show parties.

So, because those four days will be quite hectic, it is important to have some essentials in your handbag. You can see mine above, I got this pretty suede bag at Mango and it has the perfect size for fashion week! Inside, you will find (from left to right):

A Moschino notebook that I bought during Vogue’s FNO last year, in there I will write down notes about every fashion show, which I will turn into proper articles later on.

The Fashion Rescue Kit, that I got at my very first Fashion Week 4 years ago (geez, I’m old!!!), packed with sewing stuff, hair bands, band aids etc.

Paul Frank Lipsmacker and MAC Lipgloss.

VERY IMPORTANT! My Press ID, without which I would not get inside the tent.

Benefit Concealer and NYX Cream Blusher, two essentials that make me look fresher and more awake than I will actually be.

My wallet, my camera, gum, oh and, what you can see at the bottom is a paper fan that always comes in handy when it gets hot in the tent.

What’s missing in this picture, of course, because I took this picture with it, is my iphone in which I saved my schedule and invitations. VERY important!

So, as you can see, I’ll be carrying around quite some stuff plus goodie bags and giveaways from the designers, but I’m more than happy to carry those ;) Four days to go! I’ll keep you posted.

joop Berlin Calling

JOOP! posted the first picture of their S/S 2012 campaign on their facebook page and, well, it’s not that great. The dress is pretty boring, the model pretty dull, the poses quite unnatural, it’s waaaay too photoshopped, BUT, the background is what I love about it. You can see the Berlin skyline with the Fernsehturm and the park inn building. So, as a Berliner, I must like this ad. It’s also making me excited about the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week in 10 days. After two seasons that I missed becaue of bloody exams, I will be there again and go to many fashion shows, showrooms and other fashionable events. Of course I’ll keep you posted on everything!

Must Have For Fall: Stephan Pelger Purple Maxi Skirt

look3 Must Have For Fall: Stephan Pelger Purple Maxi Skirt

Do you know this feeling when you see a piece of clothing and you know you can’t live without it? Happens to me a lot. Stephan Pelger has this amazing skirt in his latest collection, it’s long, it’s flowy, and it’s got the perfect color for fall. For summer I have a lot of maxi skirts in fresh colors like mint green or neon blue, but for fall I want something more bold and dark. This berry color seems perrrfect and I need to get it! Just imagine wearing it with chunky boots, strutting through fallen leaves on the ground…

00010h Couture Hair

It’s couture time! I love couture, because the outfits are true pieces of art, but rather than reposting the fantasy dresses that were shown in Paris today, I chose beautiful Magdalena Frackowiak backstage at Dior. No make up, but biiiig hair and fancy purple nails! Perfect! Btw, Berlin Fashion Week kicks off tomorrow. I got 18 invitations to shows and offsite events and cant go. f**k my life.

Sweet Olivia Palermo at Soho House in Berlin

p1030994 Sweet Olivia Palermo at Soho House in Berlin

She did it! As I wrote before, I was very hesitant to believe that Olivia Palermo will attend Berlin Fashion Week, but I still went to the Markus Lupfer presentation at Soho House because I thought there might be a slight chance of her being there. She arrived about 15 minutes after me, posed for pictures, looked at the collection, talked to many people, changed her outfit and left again. And let me tell you, she is tiny. I looked like a giant compared to her. But let me also tell you, she is super sweet. Forget the “The City” bullshit where she is portrayed as a bitch, at the Markus Lupfer event she was the nicest girl in the room. Here are some of my pictures…
