Berlin Fashion Week Day 1: Schumacher

mg 7852 Berlin Fashion Week Day 1: Schumacher

I survived the first day of the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week! Actually it was a really good day, I went to 5 fashion shows, missed 2 because there just wasnt enough time. Did two interviews, one with Marcel Ostertag and one with Pablo Ramirez, might post them later if you are interested. My favorite show of the day? Definitely the very first one, Schumacher.
Schumacher created a beautiful collection of very feminin, yet elegant clothes. A lot of shiny fabrics were used, lots of brown shades and bows could be seen. Toni Garrn opened the show and looked very pretty, as always. My favorite piece was probably a sequin vest.
After the fashion show, all the guests were invited to a reception to celebrate Schumachers 20th anniversary where we got a free T-Shirt and beautifully decorated food, thanx for that! I would definitely wear Schumacher’s clothes : )

p1020182 I interviewed Julia Stegner!

Yes, I still cant believe it but I got to do a short interview with topmodel Julia Stegner at the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week press conference this morning. Julia looked lovely, wearing a black shirt, beige blazer and light pink pants. She also wore a lot of silver jewellery, lots of beautiful rings, bracelets and necklaces.

When I introduced myself to her she was smiling and said “Hi! I’m Julia!”, really sweet and down to earth. I asked her if she is still looking for an apartment in Berlin, she said yes, but if she finds one that she likes she will buy it as an investment for the future and might move to Berlin in a few years. I asked her if she likes to go shopping in Berlin and if she has some favorite shops, she answered that everytime she’s been to Berlin she never had enough time to go shopping but she would love to do it soon. Julia also told me that she will only be here until thursday thats why she wont walk in any shows but will be in the audience of the Black Coffee and Ramirez fashion show.

That means I’m gonna see her again since I’m also gonna be in the audience of that show : ) I noticed her hair is shorter than usually and she didnt wear much make up and still looked perfect! Gotta love Julia Stegner!

dsc 0288 ter Fashion Week Outfit Inspiration

So tomorrow the craziness will begin. The Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week will start with a press conference tomorrow morning. Of course this week I wanna be super fashionable and thats why I love looking online for outfit inspiration. Found those two pictures on style and the city and I love those outfits. One of my all time favorites are the very Chanel looking bags with chain straps, I think I own 5 bags in that style and I never get tired of them cos they really suit every kind of outfit. Bought another one at topshop this week, denim style. I think I’m gonna wear a lot of dresses this Fashion Week since it will be really warm. Dresses, wedge heels, belts and hairbands.

Make sure you check my blog tomorrow for my Julia Stegner press conference pics and mayyyybe even a small interview. Anything you want me to ask Julia?

So, as you all know, in a little less than four weeks the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week will start again and I’m very happy to be part of it for the third time now. One thing that I cant get outta my head - obviously - is what am I gonna wear during those four days of fashion craziness??? It has to be pretty, edgy, kinda comfortable cos I’m walking around all day and of course super fashionable! So when I saw this picture at superfantasticpicturetime I thought…perfect! Love the combination of cool pants and gladiators with a romantic hippie like blouse. I actually got a blouse like that, I got the sunnies, I got the pants, now I only need the shoes and the necklace. Any suggestions for Fashion Week outfits? Comment here or email me!

In its fifth edition already Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will present a schedule, from July 1 to 4, of well-known designer brands mixed with emerging talent from Germany. Guido Maria Kretschmer, Michael Michalsky, Scherer Gonzalez, Schumacher and Smeilinener will return to IMG’s catwalk and showcase their collections to national and international buyers and editors.

“By now Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin has become a guarantor for exposure and success within the international fashion calendar. We are excited that renowned brands such as Custo Barcelona understand the significance of Berlin as a fashion destination and make our schedule even more exciting,” says Maia Guarnaccia, Vice President IMG Fashion Europe. “With continued support of our partners we will once more build impressive tents in Bebelplatz to ensure the best possible venue for our designers and guests. We expect many international fashion experts to travel to Berlin to discover German and international designers.”

Amongst others, BOSS Orange, Custo Barcelona, GANT, Lena Hoschek and Mongrels in Common will show their creative ideas within Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin for the first time. In- spiring events like “ESCADA – A View on Fashion 1978 – 2009”, the Gala Fashion Brunch and the award show “Designer for Tomorrow by Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf” will complement the final schedule, which will be released two weeks before the event in July. Also several fashion tradeshows, such as PREMIUM, BREAD & BUTTER,ProjektGALERIE will take place at the same time as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2010 and attract thousands of retail- ers to the fashion capital Berlin.

“Within two years Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin has become the only German fashion event that is a relevant factor in the international fashion calendar. Berlin now belongs to the most important fashion capitals again, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin being the driving force of this development. We are very proud of that,” says Anders Sundt Jensen, Vice President Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars. “With its remarkable mix of international and German designers along emerging talent, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is quite special and attracts more visitors and industry experts every season.” International star photographer Peter Lindbergh staged Mercedes-Benz brand-ambassador Julia Stegner and the new E-Class Coupé for the key visual of this season. The photograph will be the official picture motif of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2010.

„The tradeshows that are grouping around Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin strengthen Berlin as a fashion capital. Thanks to a common date, many retailers and fashion editors will come to Berlin to experience the strongest fashion week to date, discover designers and kick off the sea- son,“ explains Harald Wolf, Major and Senator for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues, Berlin. “I am very happy that fashion is beginning to play an important part in Berlin’s economy.”

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is made possible by the following sponsors: Mercedes- Benz, DHL, Maybelline Jade, Peek & Cloppenburg KG Düsseldorf and Veltins and will again be endorsed by the Senate for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues, Berlin.

Here’s the latest press release for the next Berlin Fashion Week in July…

MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK BERLIN AND PREMIUM

ANNOUNCE THEIR DATES FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2010

JOINT DATES WITH TRADESHOWS WILL STRENGTHEN BERLIN AS A FASHION CAPITAL

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin and PREMIUM Exhibitions, with continued support by the

Senate for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues Berlin, are changing their previously

announced dates as follows:

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2009:  July 1, 2009 – July 4, 2009

PREMIUM Tradeshow:       July 1, 2009 – July 3, 2009

“In the interest of what is best for Berlin we have decided to change the dates of this season’s

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin,” said Maia Guarnaccia, Vice President IMG Fashion Europe.

While the new dates present certain challenges to many of the German and Berlin based designers

that show with us, we have, in consultation with our partners and designers, agreed to move our

dates so that Berlin may present a unified fashion platform to the international fashion industry in

July 2009.”

“It is important as Berlin grows as an international fashion capital, that it not lose site of the very

exciting designers and brands that call the city and country home,” Mr. Guarnaccia continued.

“Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is the internationally recognized platform for these busi-

nesses and it is our sincere hope that future dates for the events in Berlin can be adjusted so as to

better suit their needs.”

Many designers are already showing interest in doing a runway show within the Mercedes-Benz

Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2010. Along with the tradeshows new visitor records are

being expected in the German capital and the media attention has already grown tremendously

from season to season since Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin premiered in July 2007.

“For us, it was very important right from the start to find a common date with all protagonists of

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin – everything else does not make sense. Especially in times of

recession all event organisers should coordinate themselves in favour of the industry – exhibitors

and buyers – and present a strong week. The entire discussion shows that Berlin is a strong inter-

nationally relevant fashion city,” said Anita Tillmann and Norbert Tillmann, PREMIUM Exhibi-

tions GmbH.

The fifth edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will again take place at Bebelplatz in the

historic centre of Berlin. Next to catwalk shows there will be a large number of other fashion

events, such as the Showroom-Mile of the Berlin Senate, which is also open to the public.

“By having a unified calendar of tradeshows and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin the city

will set the schedule of events for the industry. With all of the events together we are underlining

the significance of Berlin both domestically and internationally. For Berlin, it is important to

support dates that work for the entire industry and my office will lead the discussion on a com-

mon schedule for future seasons”, says Senator Harald Wolf.

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2009 is made possible by the following

sponsors: Mercedes-Benz, DHL, Maybelline Jade, Peek & Cloppenburg KG Düsseldorf and Veltins

and will again be endorsed by the Senate for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues, Berlin.

BFW Thoughts

sl273355 BFW Thoughts

First of all I wanna say hi to all my new readers that found my blog thanx to Fashion Week and I wanna use the time that I have today to write about Berlin Fashion Week one last time since there is so much to tell, but I had so little time during the past few days. So, in my honest opinion this season’s Fashion Week was bigger and better than the last one. Altogether I spent about 20 hours inside of the FW tent, which means I met tons of people, saw celebs and models walking in and out and got a really good impression of how much work there is behind the scenes of a Fashion Week. One thing I noticed is, there were a lot more international models, journalists and people from the industry this time and a lot more photographers. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and everything seemed better organized this time, for example the shuttle service. I remember last time they didnt have as many Mercedes as this year (They all look like on the pic above). Of course the shows never really start on time, but thats fine…if you expect punctuality at Fashion Week then you’re wrong. My favorite shows were UGG Australia, ALLUDE, Marcel Ostertag and Kilian Kerner. Does anyone know where Behati Prinsloo was??? Wasnt she supposed to walk for some shows? Her absence and the fact that I didnt get to see more of Julia were the only things that disappointed me. Other than that, I enjoyed everyday and cant wait for next Berlin Fashion Week.

Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week is over…

dsc00578 Mercedes Benz Berlin Fashion Week is over...

4 exciting days are over now…4 days of fashion, fashion and fashion!!! Today, the first of three fashion shows was 30paarHaende, which is a collection designed by fashion design students. They did a good job, I really liked the cuts, but the fabrics looked kinda cheap, which is probably understandable, because I guess students cant afford expensive fabrics. The pieces looked very classic and sophisticated though. The label c.neeon showed us the exact opposite. Crazy cuts and colors, lots of stripes and prints were really fun to watch, but not really wearable. The very last fashion show of BFW was Felder Felder and yeah, fashion wise it was incredibly good, I just wished for something more spectacular for the finale…I dunno what exactly I expected but for example some small fireworks or even just glitter falling from the ceiling would have been nice. Unfortunately there was nothing like that, but I really loved the Felder Felder collection. With lots of leather skirts and gold and silver, it was one of the coolest shows. I am pretty sad Fashion Week is over already. I met some really nice people and it was just interesting to kinda observe everything. There is so much work behind a fashion week, so many things need to be organized, so many people are involved and its really nice to have hundreds of people with the same interest, namely fashion, in one room. I have to admit though, I am very tired and need one “fashion-free” day now….but just one ;)
