Outside the U.S. you might not have heard of the new TV show called “Don’t trust the B- in Apartment 23” starring Krysten Ritter as Chloe, a bitchy NYC girl who turns the live of June, a goodie-goodie girl from a small town, upside down. James Van Der Beek plays a funny version of himself and alltogether, I really enjoy this show. Sure, it’s nothing groundbreaking and sometimes the plot lacks a certain seriousness, but funny lines and Krysten Ritter’s style make up for it.

I first saw Krysten Ritter when she played a minor role in Gilmore Girls and I’m happy she can prove her acting skills in her own show now. Although Apartment 23 is not meant to be about fashion like, say, SATC, Krysten’s character wears some pretty cool outfits throughout the show. Her trademark is definitely the color black, whether it’s the black eyeliner, her black hair, or her black mini dresses. Of course her height and her amazing body support the fact that she looks stunning in pretty much everything.

I especially like her black coats and jackets in the show, as well as the daring accessories she uses; they always look cool but elegant. Somehow, Krysten reminds me of a naughty Audrey Hepburn (don’t hate me for saying that). Of course, nothing compares to Audrey, but Krysten has the same big Bambi eyes and looks just as good in a LBD. Anyways, if you haven’t checked out Apartment 23 yet, do so! Even if it’s just for the fshion.

Das perfekte Model: Karolina Kurkova’s Street Style

605669 1 l Das perfekte Model: Karolina Kurkovas Street Style

Tomorrow, Eva Padberg’s and Karolina Kurkova’s new show “Das perfekte Model” will start and of course I will watch it, as probably every German girl who is slightly interested in fashion and quite sick of Germany’s Next Topmodel (which will start again at the end of February by the way). My expectations of the show are quite high, I really hope to see a show that does not focus on ridiculous tasks to ‘prepare’ the young girls for the modeling world or bitchy fights among 16-year-olds.

I want to see two topmodels giving professional advice to aspiring young models while showing them (and the viewers) what the fashion industry is all about. Besides that, I am just happy to see Karolina Kurkova on TV, I think she could win a lot of new fans if she is just her natural, goofy, but always stunningly beautiful self.

So, ‘celebrating’ the start of “Das perfekte Model” I thought I’d collect some pictures of Karolina Kurkova’s Street Style, which is always nice to see. She wears a lot of black and white, great basics and feminine pieces. She doesn’t follow trends but sticks to simple elegant outfits like a little black dress or a black blazer and grey skinny jeans. One of my favorite styles of her is the black skirt/ beige sweater combo, casual and pretty.

Her best accessory? Her smile. Always will be.

36953716 Gambling for fashion

I love going out with friends and of course dressing up for nights like that. In Berlin there are a lot of clubs that require appropriate dressing, mostly meaning high heels for girls, button up shirt for men and definitely no jeans. Apparently, preparing for a night out is getting more important to young people again, which is good! Waiting in line is much better if you can check out well-dressed people.

But dressing up is not limited to clubs; there are other social activities that young people seem to enjoy wearing fancy outfits, even unusual things like playing bingo! In Germany, bingo isn’t very popular, but I like the idea of spending time with friends playing bingo, wearing bingo fashion!

Who says you shouldn’t always try your best to look good? Back in the day, men and women paid way more attention to the way they looked when they left the house. Just think of the 50s style. The girls’ hair and make up must have taken forever every morning! And as far as casinos are concerned, I guess people there look very chic too!

I know our generation is a little more laid back when it comes to the way we look and we embrace the freedom to dress the way we want to, which is good! But from time to time, I like to make an effort!

If you think about it, it even makes sense. I mean, we have to finance our fashionista lifestyle somehow, right? So why not doing it in style, playing bingo games and maybe winning some money to afford your outfit for the next night out with friends? Sounds like a good idea to me!

She did it! As I wrote before, I was very hesitant to believe that Olivia Palermo will attend Berlin Fashion Week, but I still went to the Markus Lupfer presentation at Soho House because I thought there might be a slight chance of her being there. She arrived about 15 minutes after me, posed for pictures, looked at the collection, talked to many people, changed her outfit and left again. And let me tell you, she is tiny. I looked like a giant compared to her. But let me also tell you, she is super sweet. Forget the “The City” bullshit where she is portrayed as a bitch, at the Markus Lupfer event she was the nicest girl in the room. Here are some of my pictures…

When I went to work this morning I saw this advertisement for McDonalds McCafe Cupcakes. You probably think “Sowhat?” Well… this is a big thing for Germany since cupcakes aren’t really that popular here. If I asked my parents what cupcakes are they probably wouldnt know… really. So now Germany is a even more Americanized! I aint complaining, I love cupcakes! So of course I went to McCafe after work and got these two little yummy ones, vanilla and strawberry. Gonna eat them now… at 9.30 pm…yes, I’m having cupcakes for dinner!

Baby you know… Daisy Hicks?

It’s spring!!!! Finally warm sunny days, the smell of flowers and the sound of birds, it’s like the world awakes from a long sleep. If you love spring as much as I do, I got the perfect music to accompany you through those nice long days. Daisy Hicks. I got to know her music through a friend of mine and I wanna recommend it to all my readers. All week I’ve been listening to her album “Daisy” and couldn’t help but be reminded of Vanessa Paradis in some songs, others reminded me of Delta Goodrem which is not surprising knowing that Daisy lived in Sydney for a long time. My favorite song of the album is “Baby you know”, I love the beautiful melody , the romantic lyrics and the relaxing vibe of it. Probably the most catchy song of the album is “If I can’t make it”, it clearly stands out and is perfect for singing along, love it! Other favorites of mine are “Heartbreak Hill”  and “So lonely” because of the nice guitar sound. So if you wanna see for yourself what I’m talking about, go have a look at her website here and watch the video that I posted above.

What’s your favorite song at the moment???

picture 9 Gaga and Honey Bee: Telephone

I remember a few months ago I blogged about Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance video and said she won me over as a fan. Now that I’ve watched her new video “telephone”, I am even more impressed. Yes it’s provocative, yed it’s weird and maybe disturbing to some people, but what I find most important is: It is entertaining. It’s kind of like a really exciting game on a site like http://www.foxybingo.com/. And it was damn fun to watch! I just love how colorful it is and of course my fashion heart beats faster when I see all these crazy outfits. Favorites of mine are the studded leather jacket in the prison, the stars and stripes outfit and Beyonces blue uniform. I could watch this video over and over again and not get sick of it. Moreover, it made me appreciate the song more, which I found rather boring in the beginning. I want this video to win some VMAs!!! Here are my fav screencaps…

picture 2 Fashion Dictionary for ipod touch and iphone

Aparently there are thousands of useful apps out there, I have an ipod touch for almost two years now and honestly, I dont use many apps. But today I saw this and I think I might download it, finally a useful app for fashionistas :

The new fashion dictionary-app for iPhone and iPod touch

Finally, a fashion dictionary! The renowned publisher “Fachverlag Schiele & Schön”, based in Berlin, launches the dictionary for clothing and fashion as an app for iPhone and iPod touch. It will be a helpful assistant if you need a professional translation for technical terms.

Or do you know straightaway that for example pirate trousers means in German Caprihose or in Italian pantaloni alla pescatora? If you had difficulties in translation up to now it will assist you from now on. The new app makes it possible!

The dictionary includes about 8.000 technical terms of the categories: fashion, clothing, underwear, and stylish accessory in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. You will find up to date fashion-terms like shaded stripe and cargo style as well as fundamental terms like sleeve hem, revers etc.

Everytime and everywhere you can look up a word and use it. The terms are arranged in alphabetical order and connected with the terms according to the other languages. Results will be displayed after only entering the 2nd character.
An absolute must for everyone who searched desperately for technical terms in a foreign language and who hasn’t found them in expensive standard works so far!

Crashes into us
To die by your side

And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well the pleasure, the privilege is min
