Tomorrow, Eva Padberg’s and Karolina Kurkova’s new show “Das perfekte Model” will start and of course I will watch it, as probably every German girl who is slightly interested in fashion and quite sick of Germany’s Next Topmodel (which will start again at the end of February by the way). My expectations of the show are quite high, I really hope to see a show that does not focus on ridiculous tasks to ‘prepare’ the young girls for the modeling world or bitchy fights among 16-year-olds.

I want to see two topmodels giving professional advice to aspiring young models while showing them (and the viewers) what the fashion industry is all about. Besides that, I am just happy to see Karolina Kurkova on TV, I think she could win a lot of new fans if she is just her natural, goofy, but always stunningly beautiful self.

So, ‘celebrating’ the start of “Das perfekte Model” I thought I’d collect some pictures of Karolina Kurkova’s Street Style, which is always nice to see. She wears a lot of black and white, great basics and feminine pieces. She doesn’t follow trends but sticks to simple elegant outfits like a little black dress or a black blazer and grey skinny jeans. One of my favorite styles of her is the black skirt/ beige sweater combo, casual and pretty.

Her best accessory? Her smile. Always will be.

I don’t know what it is about balloons that fascinates me so much but I just love balloons in fashion shoots. I have also developed a serious obsession with the color Mint and on top of everything, Izabel ‘Izzy‘ Goulart is still one of my faves. So, it’s definitely not surprising that I adore the new Blanco Campaign. I want those mint colored pants!!! And the balloons…

I survived Fashion Week. I wish I had a T-Shirt saying exactly that right now (Damn! That would have sold like crazy outside the tent! Should have thought about that earlier!). It is a stressful time and reading all the status updates from other bloggers on facebook, they agree with me. It seems like most of them are happy that it’s over. I’m not. Do I want a break? Yes. Do I need more than a couple of days? No.

Anyways, the 10th Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week has come to an end, here’s my recap of the last day. It started with the Fashion Show by MINX which was a nice surprise. Models like Franziska Knuppe and Kathrin Thormann walked down the catwalk in beautiful silk and leather gowns while Annette Weber (wearing the It-shoes of the moment, Isabel Marant sneakers) watched the show with her son next to her. I honestly don’t understand why some people bring their children to fashion shows. A fashion show is probably one of the most boring and inappropriate situations ever for children and that seat could have been taken by someone who really wanted to watch the show.

After that I had a two hour break so I had some coffee, read some of the Fashion Week Dailys and then tried a free massage in the tent, SO painful! Didn’t enjoy it, but my back felt much more relaxed afterwards. Then I went to Stephan Pelger which was good, too, followed by Malaikaraiss and Noir.

I will tell you more about the fashion soon, but right now it is 2 am and my eyes can hardly stay open as I am typing this, so please be patient and check back soon. The Fashion Week circus ends for me here and even though I am looking forward to a break, I cant wait for the next one.

Mission accomplished. I can go back to Giessen in peace now. On day three of the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week, I finally met the wonderful Karolina Kurkova. I’ve been a big fan of Mrs Air-Heel (all the Victoria’s Secret lovers among you will know what I mean) for years so I’m really happy that I could finally meet her. As expected, she is super pretty, super tall, and super nice.

What else happenend today? Well, for me, the day started at the Fashion Blogger Cafe where I met some amazing fellow bloggers like Sam from gelbgold or Nathalie from fashion is for idiots [like us] . The girls were so nice and the event itself was very well organized. We could start the day with yummy cupcakes and coffee and listen to interesting talks about Blogs and their rights.

After that, I went back to the tent for the Kilian Kerner show. The collection was nothing special, but Kilian Kerner’s shows are always nice, because he usually has live music. Today’s music was such a nice change to all the hardcore-bass-music of the past days, Mads Langer played guitar and impressed with his beautiful voice.

Then I had my fan-moment with KK before I went to Hackesches Quartier to check out some pop-up stores. On my way, I saw Eva Padberg filming a scene for her new show “Das perfekte Model” in front of Brandenburg Gate, some guys told me not to take pics so I only got this blurry one, but she was with two contestants, both quite pretty. They were wearing some beautiful yellow gowns and were freezing in the cold rainy weather. Eva kept on hugging them so they would be warm and seemed really nice and caring, not so sure if Heidi would have done the same if you know what I mean…

That was it for today, not too much which is just the right thing after only 6 hours of sleep. Tomorrow will be more hectic again, until then, enjoy the photos!

Berlin Fashion Week Day Two

It is 3 am as I am writing this so please excuse if this is going to be fairly short. Day 2 of Berlin Fashion Week is over and oh my god, it was stressful as hell. It started with the Rena Lange show. The collection was nice but what was way more important for me was the front row across of my seat. First of all, there was Eva Padberg who looked lovely in her blue dress. And then there were, what I would call, the ‘fashion witches’ all next to each other. The witches are the editors-in-chief of the major fashion magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan, InStyle etc…

Besides all the clothes that I saw today on the four fashion shows that I went to, it was definitely Blogger day. My good friend Sue from Sue Loves NYC was in Berlin, I met Sarah from Josie Loves, and I took a picture of the wonderful Fiona Jane from Spotding.

After the shows, I went to the Lena Hoschek After Show Party which was great fun! Half naked women served food and drinks all night, there was a live band and a really nice 50s atmosphere. I met Miriam and Amelie from Germany’s Next Topmodel who you can see on the picture below as well. But after standing in heels all day, I am really dead now and just want to sleep so, enjoy my photos…. Zzzzzz…..Good night.

Ho Ho Holiday Campaigns!

laeticia Ho Ho Holiday Campaigns!

Less than four weeks until christmas! I have to admit, I’m not in the holiday mood yet, mostly because of the warm weather that we’ve been experiencing here lately, but I always love to look at the winter campaigns, especially the ones that look festive. Of course, Tiffany & Co delivers wonderful christmas campaigns and this year’s is no exception. Laetitia Casta walks down the steps of what I think is the New York Library in a beauuutiful gown while it’s snowing and is holding the hand of a handsome guy. Sigh!

Another snowy picture was chosen for the Banana Republic campaign. Yes, it looks staged and fake and too happy, BUT… isn’t that what christmas is like? ;)

And then there are the campaigns that aren’t shot in a wintery scenery, yet remind the viewer of christmas nevertheless, because of the party outfits. The H&M holiday campaign pretty much looks the same every year to be honest and even though that’s a bit boring, it still works somehow. My favorite pic this year is the one with Edita Vilkeviciute; she just makes that cheap dress look a hundred bucks more expensive.

Another pretty example of a good holiday campaign is the H by Halston one. Pretty model, pretty set, pretty shoes, thats all you need! So? Can you feel the holiday spirit?

Note to myself: Combine preppy blouse and sweater with black leather skirt and manly coat! It’s that simple! Alright… it probably helps to look like Miranda Kerr to really pull off that look and her amazing bordeaux Prada bag that shes been carrying everywhere lately makes the outfit quite expensive, but I’m still very inspired by Miranda’s latest off-duty looks!

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2011 - Best Looks

Filed Under (Fashion, Models) by Nadine on 11-11-2011

I know there are thousands of sources out there where you can read about yesterday’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2011, so I’m not gonna bore you with the obvious, like Miranda and the fantasy bra etc, but tell you about my favorite facts and looks of the show.

First of all, the model cast. There were quite a lot of newbies on the VS runway this year, and although I don’t care for a lot of them, my personal highlight was Toni Garrn. To me, she had the most adorable outfit - if not the best - and just made VS look less tacky. Being the beauty that she is, Toni is perfect for VS and it was about time she turned 18 to do the show.

Other great outfits included Adriana Lima’s black wings with the purple lingerie (fierce!) and Erin’s pink fishy wings (the color just suited her so well!). Of course the majority of outfits were tacky as hell and absolutely over the top, but hey, that’s why we all love VS, right?

As for the music choices, I’m semi-happy. Aparently the opening song was Taylor Momsen’s band The pretty reckless’ “Make me wanna die” , which I looove and imagine to be really good for VS. But then there were terrible choices like Rhianna’s California Kind Bed, aka snooze fest…

Now, all we have to hope for is that the editors at CBS aren’t stoned as in 08 and make the best out of 45 minutes. Fingers crossed for the final product which airs on Nov 29!

colorcover Color Covers

What? Is it spring already? Unfortunately not here in Germany, but thank god it’s summer in some other countries and that’s why we get these awesome colorful december covers. V Mag attempts the Hawaiian Aloha Look on Bambi and Lindsay, Vogue Brazil plays it safe with KK and ocean in the background and Vogue Australia impresses with yet another stunning cover this year showing Isabel Lucas and a very fun colorful font. As you might guess, my favorite is Vogue Oz, I just love their cover ideas this year and the fact that they dont ruin them with too much text. Cant wait to get my hands on it!

Frida Gustavsson’s Street Style

fridastreetstyle Frida Gustavssons Street Style

I just can’t get enough of model street style pictures, as probably a lot of you. My favorite model style of the moment belongs to the super sweet Frida Gustavsson. It is really hard to believe that this girl is only 18 years old and has therefore dressed well since her early teenage years. How to describe her style? Think 70s, feminine, elegant, always with a touch of modern playfulness. Frida loves blouses and hats and pulls them off better than anyone. To me, she really knows how to combine certain pieces to make a great outfit. Here are some of my favorite Frida looks….
