superwomen Return of the superwomen

This Paris Fashion Week was different than the last one. The clothes were more wearable ( see Chloe or Valentino for example ), the heels got flatter and most importantly the model cast changed. Of course there were still the 16 year old super skinny Russians, the ones that you just wanna feed a sandwich or two, but there were some real women, too. Karolina Kurkova who was one of the best earning high fashion models about 7 years ago returned to the runway, walked for Louis Vuitton just 4 month after giving birth and looked better than ever. Similar thing with Adriana Lima, after seeing her at the Givenchy front row a few days ago, we expected her to walk in some show, still it was a surprise to spot her at Louis Vuitton. French stunner Laeticia Casta even opened the show. All of them showed some cleavage, some curves and a very grown up look that 16 year olds just cant. I’m very happy with the developement in that direction, it’s just fair to see real women in the clothes that real women want to buy.

Sonia Rykiel showed her collection in Paris today. Now THIS is what I call a beautiful picture. Love the colors and the movement, two things that are very important for a good picture imo. Too bad her H&M collection wasn’t even close to this…

picture 2 News from Paris...

Yes I’m in Munich and of course my time here in this new city is exciting for me, but even more exciting news come from Paris! Crazy things have happened in Paris this week, the VS Angels took over some of the most prestigious shows like Prada and Balenciaga for example. What made me really happy is that it was revealed that Natasha Poly will be on the April Cover of Vogue Paris! I cant wait to see what she will be wearing and who will be the photographer, it’s definately a must buy for me! Another cool thing that happened in Paris is a photoshoot with Nicole Richie whose pictures looks amazing! Now Im very excited for the final shows of Paris Fashion Week like Chanel!!!!

Four ways to wear (faux) fur

modelsinfur Four ways to wear (faux) fur

One huge trend this winter is fur, whether it’s faux or not, you see it on the street, in the stores and especially a lot on models off duty. I found it very interesting to see how these four models all wear fur, yet their style looks completely different.

First fur look: Cool

Maryna Linchuk is wearing a beautiful fur jacket in different shades of grey, she combines ist with simple black skinny jeans, black flat boots and black aviator sunglasses. Oh and of course a Chanel purse ( Which model doesnt have one?! ). Of course her look is pretty dark, but definitely cool.

Second fur look: Elegant

I cant vouch for it, but Snejana’s short fur coat looks very authentic and the way she combines it with red lipstick, black and white Chanel boots and a snakeskin bag gives her a very classic and elegant look. The pair of jeans breaks that “elegance” and makes the look more youthful.

Third fur look: Rock’n'roll

Now this is fur for rockstars, a black fur vest combined with leather pants and a leather jacket, high platforms, a red leopard scarf and Wayfarers.

Fourth fur look: Layering

This is layering at its best. Dorothea wears black leggins, a long blouse, a peach skirt, a blazer and a beautiful fur jacket in shades of brown. Great for winter, because the layering keeps you warm and looks very trendy at the same time.

miranda One week with Miranda Kerr

Alright, so I am back in Berlin and honestly I am pretty disappointed by my bad timing, because if I stayed a week longer I would have met Miranda Kerr today. Boohoo…I know. Miranda has been in Sydney for a week now and was very busy, as always. Today she promoted her Kora skincare line at David Jones and also signed autographs for fans. But lets start with her arrival. It’s pretty clear that Miranda loves maxi-dresses, on the plane or on the way to a photoshoot, Miranda sported these casual long dresses combined with short jackets. The day after her first shoot she went to renew her drivers license and of course couldnt hide from the paparazzi once again, wearing a multi-colored skirt and light blue blouse, also love the sunglasses! A few hours later Miranda had a business dinner at Bondi Beach and looked amazing in a black Prada dress before she was the star of the David Jones Winter collection fashion show on wednesday morning. She walked down the runway next to Nicole Trunfio in outfits of Aussie designers like Sass&Bide. Who thought that this was the end of her promo tour is wrong, Miranda Kerr woke up early this morning to give some interviews to morning shows, wearing an amazing blue silky outfit, can she get any more gorgeous??? Finally, she promoted Kora at David Jones and knowing her, she might be doing another photoshooting now. She’s impressive, I don’t know where she gets her energy from but I would love to have a bit of that….and also her dresses. So here’s one week with Miranda Kerr in pictures…

lindsay munoz vogue mexico febrero 2010 Vogue Mexico Cover: Lindsay Ellingson

All this beauty… Lindsay Ellingson has really grown on me during the past few months, she has something that not a lot models have, she can be both commercial as you can see by her Victoria’s Secret work and she can also be high fashion like on the cover of Vogue Mexico Feb 2010 issue. But no matter what she does, her face always looks extremely soft and pretty which I love. This has to be one of my favorite Vogue covers of 2010 so far and the editorial makes me want to get hair extensions ; )

Btw, I’m back in Berlin.

I’m still in Australia, roadtrippin up north at the moment and enjoying every second. So while I surfed the internet in my motel room I stumbled across this new editorial with Riley Keough. It’s from the Feb issue of Vogue Russia which is dedicated to the US, lord knows why ;) I love Riley, I’ve been a cheerleader myself so this is a great photoshoot for me, yes it’s a bit tacky but it’s also a lot of fun, check it out…

Marie Claire’s Hypocrite Cover

100103 jen hawkins cover 15jqkvt Marie Claires Hypocrite Cover

I’m not a big fan of Jennifer Hawkins, I’m not a big fan of models posing nude for fashion magazines, it’s too ironic. So when I had breakfast this morning and saw this cover of Marie Claire I wasn’t too impressed, but the thing that really annoys me is that this picture is aparently unretouched and supposed to make women feel better about their flaws. Excuse me??? Why should I feel better about myself if I see Jennifer Hawkins, nude and unretouched and she STILL looks a trillion times better than me??? I think someone missed the point in this whole cover shoot and I also think it’s unfair to say that it’s unretouched, because even if no one played around with it on Photoshop, there is still the extremely flattering light, body powder and make up to make this woman look amazing. Here’s my suggestion for you Marie Claire, why don’t you stop being a hypocrite and take a model that’s more than 50 kg for your next “unretouched” photoshoot.

Ok, rant over. Besides that, I’m doing great here in Sydney.

Merry Christmas everyone!!! Now, for the end of the year I wanted to do something special, so I spent some hours to collect pictures of my favorite Model Street Styles of 2009. So here are pictures of my favorite street style inspirations like Freja Beha Erichsen, Karlie Kloss, Kasia Struss, Skye Stracke and of course THE Street Style Queen, Natasha Poly. Enjoy!
