Today I received the new H&M catalogue with the “It’s your Party” campaign and I really like it. After Daria Werbowy on the last cover, they went back to Erin Wasson for the new one. In my opinion Erin is perfect for H&M. This must be her 5th campaign and she just keeps looking better each time. The clothes are all about dressing up since we are in the party and prom season now. The funny thing is, I already have two of the dresses in this campaign and I bought them about 5 weeks ago. Is it normal that the clothes are in stores before the campaign is out? Anyways…its nice to see them on Erin and I have to say that I am impressed by the quality of the dresses. They definitely look more expensive than they are, even after washing them, so if you are still looking for a prom or party dress, dont be afraid to buy one at H&M but of course dont do it if you wanna be unique - I’m sure several girls will wear H&M dresses at the next party ;)

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2008 is in its last stage of preparation as we can see on these pictures of the fittings. We can see Heidi, Marisa and Miranda in some more or less spectacular outfits. My thoughts so far are…poor Heidi, she seems to have some very ugly outfits this year. I really hate this Gladiator inspired ensemble she is wearing, but maybe it’s just the combination of the outfit and her weird make up. I guess she just returned from a shooting and didnt have time to take it off. Marisa’s black lingerie looks really sexy and classy and I also like the feathers. Miranda is such a cutie as always and I love the butterfly idea, but the panties look very unsexy imo. Oh well…hope there are more “simple” outfits like the black one, but I am definitely pumped for the Fashion Show!

…well…not really ;) But I will be in the land of kangaroos, vegemite and Miranda Kerr soon. My friend and I will fly to Sydney tomorrow morning and arrive there sunday night. Sounds like a horrible long flight, I know. But I am sure it will be worth it. I’m looking forward to relaxing at Bondi beach, climbing the Harbor Bridge and of course shopping!!! It’s always interesting to get to know new cultures and new people…it will be great! We will stay there for 3 weeks which means that I wont be able to update my blog daily, BUT remember my crew will be at LA Fashion Week and of course I will blog about that as much as I can. Hope you understand and will still check by regularly. See you soon!!!

I wont post about fashion today. I will write about something much more important. Friendships. You are automatically part of your family…but you can choose your friends. Someone said that friends are the family you choose. And as much as I think that family is an important part of your life… I think true friends are even more valuable. By true friends I dont mean a person who is fun to hang out with or who you know for a long time. By true friend I mean someone who you trust unconditionally and who will always be there for you. Friends like that are hard to find…in fact, I think you are lucky if you know more than one person who you can call your true friend. Sometimes you think you found a true friend and then that person disappoints you. It hurts. It hurts me much more than being disappointed by a member of the family. How do you know if you can trust someone? How do you know that this could be a life long friendship? How can you be open for new friends if you were disappointed by old ones? The answer is… you cant. But there are certain people who havent made you cry. People who helped you and listened to you when you needed them. People who appreciate you and who accept you the way you are. Those are the people you can rely on. No matter how many people will upset you and no matter how many times you cry over someone that turned out to be bad for you…those downs will make you realize how rare and valuable the few true friends are. Remember….they are the family you choose…so choose carefully.

Ok…I am not a big fan of all this Adriana Lima hysteria but I know that a lot of people are interested in her so here are the latest news about her and Marko Jaric, which were just reported in Serbian magazine “Story”. So here are the facts:
Adriana invited Marko to her home and he was the first man who slept in her family’s house (dunno if I should believe that) , his mother likes Adriana a lot, Marko says he is happy because their families come from a similar background (whatever that means) And now the big and interesting news: They will marry in June 2009.
I am very curious about her wedding dress…what do you think it will look like? More pics after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

So the last fashion show of Berlin Fashion Week, which ended today, was Vivienne Westwood Anglomania. Of course I expected a good show with a lot of celebrities, but it was crazier than I thought. Before the show, other journalists were saying that Vivienne wont be there and that its “just” the Anglomania collection….well…Vivienne came. And with her, madness came too. When she arrived with Kim Catrell, people went nuts and tons of photographers fought for the best pic. There were literally 1000 people in the audience and some even couldn’t get a seat anymore. The show started about 30 minutes late, but it was worth all the craziness. In contrats to sophisticated Kai Kuhne, the Anglomania models were allowed to show some freestyle on the catwalk. Some were dancing, some were blowing kisses, it was fun to see them having fun. The clothes were amazing too. Pirate inspired, very colorful and crazy - just like Vivienne. When the show was over, the audience stood up and clapped and cheered like on a rock concert. Definately a great finale for a great Fashion Week. Check the awesome pics after the jump…

I just saw the new Versace f/w campaign today and it includes two eyewear ads, which “inspired” me to dedicate a post to eyewear. People think about clothes when they hear “Gucci” or “Cavalli” and often forget that those brands also produce beautiful eyewear, both glasses and sunglasses. I especially like eyewear ads because you always get to see a close up of the model’s faces. Sure…they’re photoshopped as hell but people like Natalia Vodianova just have beautiful faces and you can see that in those ads. I also think everyone should have a decent pair of sunglasses that really protect your eyes. I heard that cheap sunglasses actually are really bad for your eyes as they just make your pupils wider so even more UV will enter your eyes. Bad thought, huh? So go and get some more expensive sunglasses - it’s important. Check some of my favorite eyewear ads after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Yes, I graduated from high school a week ago, yesterday I was at my graduation prom and tomorrow I will fly to Spain with my fellow graduates to have a week of pure fun in the sun, which we all deserve. So because I’ve been so busy and will be away for a week, I will quickly tell you about my prom now before I finish packing. It was quite glamourous. All the girls wore fabulous dresses, long dresses, short dresses, black, pink, blue, white…you could really see every kind of dress yesterday. Most guys wore suits and some seemed to show some unique style by wearing Converse shoes or pink button ups. We danced and had a lot fun…I can’t believe this was my last prom. And now I’m packing for 6 days Lloret de Mar…I think I packed clothes for at least two weeks, but I just feel better to have a lot of different clothes with me. Anyways… I’ll be back next thursday. Until then…enjoy my prom pic and try to guess which of the girls is me;)

A big warm welcome to everyone to my new blog!
Few things about me…I’m Nadine, I’m 19 years old and I live in Berlin. And oh…yeah…I’m crazy about fashion and everything it involves;)
So now most of you might think “Why another fashion blog???”. I will tell you…
I know there are thousands of fashion blogs out there but I noticed that there aren’t many good ones from or about Germany - especially Berlin. And since Berlin is becoming more and more important in the fashion industry (and because some friends encouraged me), I thought it would be nice to share my view on the fashion world with everyone. Last summer Berlin finally got its own Mercedes Benz Fashion Week so I will try to get you some insider infos about that and everything else that happens in Berlin concerning the fashion world. But of course the rest of the world wont be ignored;)
Anyways, I know this will be fun and I hope you guys enjoy checking my blog and leaving comments every now and then:) You can also e-mail me at nadine@nadineandthecity.com
